Bruce Compton is senior director of international outreach for the Catholic Health Association of the United States, where he is responsible for assisting and supporting CHA member organizations in their outreach activities in the developing world. His duties include facilitating collaboration among CHA member organizations, government agencies, NGOs, and others to enhance the impact of international ministries. Additionally, he is responsible for member education regarding international outreach issues and enhancing CHA members' participation in activities of international ministry. Compton lived in Haiti from 2000 to 2002, where he served as director of administration and finance for the Haitian Health Foundation (HHF). In this capacity, he managed grants and relationships with USAID, Management Sciences for Health (MSH), Catholic Relief Services, the Hilton Foundation for Sisters, Seton Institute and several other agencies involved in health care and humanitarian relief. Compton returned to the U.S. in 2002 to be the founding president and chief executive of Springfield, Ill.–based Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach, a Catholic health ministry organization bringing appropriate surplus medical supplies from Midwest hospitals to medical missions in the developing world. Working with multiple health systems and more than 47 hospitals, he guided Mission Outreach in delivering more than $20 million of equipment and supplies to 50 countries in its first six years of operation.Specialties: international health and development
