I have been a full charge plant manager with several companies, in a career that spans almost 25 years in manufacturing. In each position I have had to be a hands-on manager and learn new trades. I have progressed from managing a company that developed and operated proprietary coating and packaging processes, moving to a full service heavy plate steel service center with widely varying processes, most recently to a continuous extrusion and molding facility. In each case I have been able to quickly learn the existing processes, and begin applying lean tools to facilitate improvement.I learned very valuable leadership and team building skills in the Marine Corps Reserve, and have been successful in taking many of the ideals into the private sector. I believe in servant leadership, in which I am at my best when I am providing the tools for the team to excel. My background also includes working for a tier one supplier to Toyota and other Japanese managed companies, as well Caterpillar and John Deere. The TPS tools I learned on the job have since been augmented by specific training in Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis, Visual Factory, Value Stream Mapping and Process Mapping. I have also completed certification as a LSS Black Belt.
