Inventory Coordinator and Production Planner• Inventory Tasks: Trained to use an existing daily process (Cycle Count) and investigation procedure. I was mandated with an expectation that the Inventory accuracy be improved using new techniques that I would bring to Helton. After 6-8 months, I implemented a new Cycle Count procedure utilizing the people who know the inventory best, the people who handle and use them daily. As a team, we were able to identify errors where the materials were being used, and correct the usage to match what is actually happening. • Production Tasks: I am also the Planner for all the steel being used in the plant, approximately 20-30 million lbs/ year. I am required to create daily purchase orders from 3 different steel manufacturers to cut down 20,000 lb. master coils into rolls of the widths that used by the company. Further, I am in charge of evaluating production processes to identify and implement opportunities for improvement and efficiency.

• Management tasks: Managed a manufacturing plant of over 20 operators producing a variety of electronic control systems in a high mix low volume environment. Included in the more than 213,000 line items shipped in 2007, we also manufactured more than 50 new applications. I put in place a daily Gemba walk with supervisors to review production boards, and Identify changes required and make decisions regarding staffing/ parts allocations and expedites. Identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate a successful implementation if possible.• Development tasks: Developed a daily process (Cycle Count) and investigation procedure. This facilitated the lowest inventory adjustments in the company’s history since our complete Physical Inventory count in October 2009. I coordinated the personnel involved with the Cycle Counts, as well as reconciled each of the counts. I was also the Planner for all the parts to be manufactured. In this part of my role I was the liaison between Sales and the Production Supervisors.

• Management Tasks: directly managed 14 assemblers, and worked with 2 supervisors. During this period, I was part of 10 Kaizen events of 8-11 participants, and operated as Project Leader in 3 of these events. We achieved this by training the LEAN concepts, identifying the waste and then guiding the group through brainstorming and prioritizing the solutions. Result: Fundamentally improved many processes, and enabled workforce to use problem solving techniques independently. • Achievements: Many of the goals above were achieved which included:o 30% reduction in lead-time (approximately 25 minutes)o 30% less travel distance for product and people (approximately 400’)o 20% reduction in floor space (approximately 40 square feet)o 50% reduction in Work in Process (WIP). (we didn’t put a dollar value on this, we just judged this based on 4 sets of 2’ x 4’ racking that we removed from the area)
