Nrc Research AssociateU.S. Naval Research Laboratory Aug 2018 - Aug 2020Washington D.C. Metro AreaPost-doc research at NRL included the study of ionosphere-thermosphere dynamics through design, development, implementation, and analysis of space-based ultraviolet sensors- Analysis of observations by the Special Sensor Ultraviolet Limb Imager (SSULI) on the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) spacecraft- Test and calibration of the Triple Tiny Ionospheric Photometer (Tri-TIP) instrument as part of the CIRCE missionhttps://www.nrl.navy.mil/space/system/files/resources/%28CIRCE%29%20Coordinated%20Ionospheric%20Reconstruction%20Cubesat%20Experiment.pdf -
Program OfficerOffice Of Naval Research Oct 2022 - PresentPart time detail assignment to the Office of Naval Research in support of the Marine Meteorology and Space Weather program -
Graduate Student Research AssistantMagnetosphere-Ionosphere Research Lab Jan 2014 - May 2018University Of New HampshireResearch at UNH primarily involved the study of fine scale structure in the ionosphere through analysis of data from multiple ground-based and space-based observations- The Rocket Experiment for Neutral Upwelling (RENU) 2 sounding rocket was a mission that launched successfully in December 2015 to study ionosphere-thermosphere coupling in the cusp region. My involvement included design and fabrication of system components, assembly of mechanical systems, mechanical testing, instrument calibration, integration support at NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia and science team support during the launch campaign. - Ground-based search coil magnetometers, both ULF and ELF, are used to study ionosphere-magnetosphere dynamics. Statistical analysis of ELF searchcoil magnetometer observations revealed new insight into whistler-like spectral features that are, as of yet, still unexplained. I also assisted the Virginia Tech AAL-PIP team to install a new site for their magnetometer system on the Antarctic ice shelf.

Program OfficerSpace And Missile Systems Center Aug 2011 - Jul 2013Los Angeles Air Force Base, Ca- I managed the TGRS program, a GNSS Radio Occultation System and space-based ionospheric sensor, the primary payload on COSMIC-2, a collaborative program between NOAA and the Taiwan National Space Organization. - I oversaw a team of contractors and engineers for Test & Evaluation planning on the USAF-funded component of the COSMIC-2 mission, an international meteorological program between NOAA and the Taiwan National Space Organization (NSPO).- I spent 2 months as the acting program manager of the Space Weather Analysis and Forecast System (SWAFS)

Space Chemistry ScientistAir Force Research Laboratory Sep 2008 - Jul 2011Hanscom Air Force Base, MaI worked as a hands-on laboratory scientist for Dr. Yu-Hui Chiu on research projects related to spacecraft propulsion.- I fabricated miniaturized ionic propulsion devices to test both the new materials for the emitters as well as new methods required to fabricate them. In addition I tested the performance of the emitters with different monopropellants in a vacuum chamber. I analyzed the results of the tests to determine the thrust efficiency of the emitters as well as the chemical properties of the propellant output.- I took optical spectra of Xenon-fueled Hall Thrusters and did a comparison of the results with a semi-empirical model. The results of the test spectra and model spectra were analyzed using Matlab. -
StudentUsafa Jul 2004 - May 2008Us Air Force Academy, CoEarned a B.S. in Physics. I conducted independent research that investigated and developed a computer model to simulate the theoretical light curve of satellites.
