Ensuring Near North’s customers meet its CBSA regulatory commitments as importers. This has been accomplished through clear leadership, guidance and training to a staff of over 70. Successfully and consistently met the brokerage needs of Near North’s customers by providing advice and regulatory guidance to ensure compliance and cost effective importation of goods entering the commerce of Canada. Successfully implemented programs to ensure Near North’s processes are executed timely, efficiently and cost effective without impacting service. Responsible for Near North’s Customs Brokers’ Profit & Loss center and generating over $10M in revenue (2011). A few accomplishments include: Improved productivity by 9.5%, improved profitability year over year +15%, maintained costs, expanded service to 24/7 still maintaining costs, and added 2 offices (Sault Ste. Marie and Edmonton) to Near North operations while exceeding industry standards for compliance.

Responsible for the management and international regulatory compliance of DHL Express Canada and its customers. Ensuring DHL meets its regulatory commitments as a courier, customs broker and a customs sufferance warehouse operator. This has been accomplished through the leadership, guidance and training to a staff of 33. Successfully met the brokerage needs of DHL’s internal and external customers by providing advice and regulatory guidance to ensure compliance and cost effective importation of goods entering the commerce of Canada. Successfully implemented programs to ensure DHL brokerage processes are executed timely, efficiently and cost effective without impacting service to DHL external customers. Responsible for DHL Canada Brokerage Group’s Profit & Loss center and generating over $3M in revenue each year. A few accomplishments include: Improved productivity by 8%, improved profitability – year over year +7.3%, reduced the percentage of outstanding billing by 5% and realized accomplishments and maintained compliance without adding headcount.

Responsible for the management and international regulatory compliance of ATI Technologies Inc. and subsidiary companies located throughout the U.S., Asia, Barbados, Europe and India. Ensured compliance of all imported and exported video graphic processing cards, integrated circuits and an array of electronic equipment. Additional responsibilities included managing the selection (RFQ) and quality monitoring of ATI’s brokers and worldwide service providers of Customs clearance. Act as a liaison between various government bodies and importing associations. Achievements include: Initiated new programs to monitor and audit customs entries, assisted in the design, development and implementation of ATI’s North American business model and awarded “Partners in Protection” certificate by Canada Customs.

Responsible for the regulatory compliance of FedEx Canada as an international courier, a customs broker, a customs sufferance warehouse operator and a customs post audit air carrier. Overall management duties included ensuring FedEx met all Canadian government regulations related to the international movement of packages, through a staff of approximately 25. Represented FedEx Canada to governing bodies, import associations, and the importing community at meetings. Acted as a liaison on day-to-day import or regulatory issues. Achievements include: awarded numerous company sponsored awards for recognition of exceeding expectations.

Managed the entire Canada Customs operation at Terminal III, Pearson International Airport. Responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient processing of international travelers and their baggage, commercial and personal shipments into Canada through approximately 6 shift Customs Superintendents and 70 Customs Inspectors. Responsible for the administration of Canada Customs courier Low Value Shipment (LVS) program on all qualified couriers operating into Pearson International Airport.
