Senior Network Deployment EngineerI am a Senior Network deployment engineer. I am responsible for deployment of large and key projects within the team as well as the resource allocation and work prioritization for the team. I perform a weekly RAG report to directors and Key stakeholders. I provide weekly updates on projects and BAU (business as usual) work. I provide coaching and technical support to team members as well as process support. I work with a wide range of equipment including DWDM, SDH and G.709 equipment (Nortel Optera LH & NTDX, Infinera, Adva {Movaz}, Huawei 6800, Lucent DMX, Ciena K2 & CoreDirector) and IP equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Foundry, Force 10) as well as our in-house CDN solution.

Network Deployment ManagerI was responsible for a team of 5 people high performing technical experts. When I first took over this team there were 3 people and over time I grew this team to 5 by performing internal and external interviews and assessing each applicant to confirm that they had the skills and would be able to fit into this small team. As manager I set SMART objectives, performed reviews and appraisals for each individual as well as salary reviews. I held bi-weekly 1-to-1 sessions with each person so that I could provide feedback and coaching as well as discussing personal goals and training requirements. If necessary I provided extra coaching for individuals so that they could reach there potential.I had responsibility for monthly and project based budgets, which I have to forecast spend to Finance & capacity planning. I had financial control over my department as I approved Purchase orders from Venders and team member’s monthly expenses. I also worked closely with Capacity planning and in some cases offered technical advice so that they could better plan the network and my team could utilize their time more efficiently.

I worked on installing & commissioning of SDH & DWDM equipment and Management systems (including 1664, 1661, 1641 ADM’s & 1686 DWDM and SH management system). I worked in USA and Europe and my duties were to organize the engineers working for me, also schedule the equipment delivery and test equipment required to perform the work.

I worked as a Maintenance engineer to fault find and rectify issues with DXC, radio systems and PDH & SDH system. I was made redundant after 3 months due to re-organization within the company

I worked on the installation & commissioning of PDH, SDH, Microwave radio equipment and also building the EMOS Management systemsI worked on several Overseas projects-1992 Bangladesh, Worked on the installation and commissioning of Train control equipment and transition back bone equipment including Microwave radio-1993 Bolivia, worked on the installation and commissioning of Microwave radio links and PDH equipment-1997 China, Worked on the installation and commissioning of SDH equipment and management platform on three major projects to Chongqing, Wuhan to Shanghai & Hubei province.
