I have more than 33 years experience being employed in the field of parks and recreation management and administration at various government agencies which include State Parks (Washington and New Mexico), County Regional Parks (6 agencies), Special Districts (4 agencies), and one City Parks and Recreation Dept. I've developed skills, knowledge and abilities in parks maintenance and operations, especially in the areas of capital improvement and development of new and existing recreation areas and facilities. Enjoy project planning and community public input in improving parks systems that provide for the needs and benefits of the public that is to be served. Researched, prepared and submitted more than 90 grant proposals since 1983 and have been awarded $53.4 million for funding for projects. Position shall endeavor to seek Tribal input to update "The Peoples Plan" and CEDS Plan which shall assist Tribal leadership to determine future priority projects and programs to be implemented that shall provide for the needs, benefits and capital improvements of Oregon States largest Indian nation. Primary projects involve water, wastewater and landfill infrastructure needs with aging systems that need attention and replacement. Straitened out 5 previously mismanaged funded projects under three funding programs and completed all projects to be in compliance with program guidelines of State Parks and Recreation Grants Office (OGALS) to keep officials satisfied. Earned $40,000 from San Bernardino County Supervisors office with creative request for funds to purchase grounds maintenance equipment. Prepared ballot measure with committee of 50 persons to increase parcel tax to provide future funding support for District. Major wildfires hit mountain communities in October and November of 2007 during election and tax measure came up short with 58% of needed two-thirds majority vote (66%). Completed Twin Peaks park development project totaling $350,000 in 2008. Presented 30 creative ideas for revenue generation to help District meet increased expenses. Trained new parks maintenance staff on ball field’s maintenance and how to organize and document each week as to what was maintained and accomplished

    Description of Duties/ responsibilities: Under direction of the County administrator's office, I cooperated with other county employees and citizens to facilitate the County’s long-term recovery, redevelopment and hazard mitigation plan. Assigned 4 mitigation projects out of 20 projects. Primary responsibility was the creation and implementation of the “defensible space program” ($17 million) to provide grant funds to property owners to mitigate their homes against future wildfires. Prepared reports, grant applications, and held public input meetings to obtain and provide program information. I learned in 2015 that my original 65 page Defensible Space Mitigation document that I prepared was reviewed by National experts on wildfire mitigation measures for prevention of future wildfires. The Federal government began an annual grant program for $91 million named "Pre-Disaster Mitigation". Indian Tribes have been allocated 10% of these pre-disaster funds for their reservation needs. As Parks Manager; Performed typical recreation administrative work to include planning, organizing, staffing, coordinating, budgeting, reporting, and evaluating. Took control over previously mis-managed recreation areas and facilities, whereby staff attitude in maintaining parks needed an adjustment. Provided strategic visioning for future park planning and development, particularly the 26 play lots that needed replacement or renovation for public safety purposes. Exercised leadership style and caring attitude whereby subordinate employees responded by being more effective and productive in their job performance. Prepared two grants proposals to State YCC Programs, awarded $251,000. Implemented capital improvement projects for 20 park sites
