Design and implementation work on Storage Array-based Virtual Machine management infrastructure:• Design and implementation team for Citrix "StorageLink": Storage Array-based Virtual Machine management (provisioning, assignment, replication), SMI-S with EMC Clariion and V-Max, HP-EVA, Pillar Data, 3PAR, LSI, non-SMI-S with Hitachi USP and AMS, HP-XP, HP-Lefthand (P4000), HP-MSA, HP-EVA, Dell Equallogic.• Virtual Machine management tools to simplify and automate replication and Disaster Recovery of Virtual Machines, including direct array-to-array replication and failback, and Cloud-based replication, including Microsoft Hyper-V and Citrix XenServer.• Port Windows Service-based StorageLink SMI-S client code (C++, Pegasus) to Linux, integrate functionality for EMC Clariion and HP-EVA directly into Xen Server core using Python/SWIG bridge.• SMI-S client to automate fabric/switch zone management (Brocade) in response to array lun/host operations.• Agent-less host remote discovery and control (incl. VM management) with Windows/WMI and Xen/XAPI interfaces.• Client-server interface model using gSOAP.• Co-developed (patent recipient) design and implementation for vendor-neutral SMI-S characteristics abstraction.

Design and implementation work on RAID Storage Server SMI-S Providers:• Developed production SMI-S provider (Pegasus-based) for LSI’s internal MegaRAID products (cards and chips, OEM for IBM, Dell), cross-platform on W2K3 and Linux.• Provider used CMPI interface (all C++), for both IBM’s Pegasus-based ICC server and W2K3 WMI Server.• Designed and developed in-memory object repository, optimized for speed and small footprint.• Preliminary work on new generation of C++ providers for LSI’s line of external Storage Arrays.

Design and implementation work on Storage Array management software, W2K and Solaris, including:• CIM/WBEM client development (Pegasus-based) for discovery and control of CIM-based Storage Arrays, including LSI/Engenio (OEM for IBM, Sun, STK, others), HP-XP/EVA/EMA/MSA, Hitachi, EMC, IBM Shark/DS8000, Fujitsu, Sun, NetApp, Virtualizers, NAS, as well as Storage Media Libraries (tape) from HP, IBM, ADIC, STK.• SNIA committee/workgroup participant, pushed boundaries of developing SMI-S (Bluefin) standard, integrated into Veritas’ “CommandCentral Storage” product. Authored numerous SMIS-S specification changes, promoted and participated in development of major scalability enhancements.• Developed vendor-specific providers for Storage Array discovery and control, including Compaq HSG, HP EVA, Hitachi HiCommand, IBM Shark.• Co-developed (patent recipient) object model for Veritas’ Storage Array object model.Developed prototype CORBA framework for abstracting and distributing Veritas’ internal data infrastructure.Co-developed (for Microsoft) the Windows NT 5.0 Automated System Recovery (ASR) facility, as enhancements to Textmode and Guimode Setup, integrated with NtBackup, incorporated into Windows XP, supported and developed enhancements (for Microsoft) to the W2K Logical Volume Manager (LDM) driver.

Design and implementation work on Distributed Media Management system (PVL/PVR), Digital UNIX, including:• Functional design and data model based on IEEE Mass Storage System Reference Model, project used by IEEE as reference implementation.• RPC using OSF DCE, ported portions to WinNT, with transparent cross-communication.• Developed data model from simple example into a full-featured, integrity-rich, normalized schema.• Database implementation using Oracle, Ingres. Developed abstracted high-level database interface layer for use with Faircom Corp.'s c-tree library.• Robot device control using SCSI-2 interface, developed realtime graphical display for "virtual robot".Utility development for Digital UNIX (journaled) Advanced File System (AdvFS):• Design and implementation work on salvage tool for recovery of data from corrupt file domains.• Enhancements to existing backup/restore utilities.Test Team Leader for the Performance Manager (PM) project, an advanced GUI application for realtime display of Digital UNIX system performance metrics, using SNMP for agent-manager communication.
