Monroe Models specializes in the design of Model Railroad related products plus producing custom models for various clients and manufactures. Duties include computer aided drafting to achieve the fabrication and design of prototype parts for scale model manufacturing. I am involved in the research for each product by studying historical books, plans, photos and doing field research. Then I translate the historical data into scale reproductions by making computer drawings for laser cut parts, and/or producing hand sculpted and machined prototypes. The prototypes are then laser cut or cast to replicate the original design in wood, metal, plastic or plaster. I then assemble the prototype and do the photography and photographic layouts for the package photos. I layout the package design and write all directions for each product using desktop publishing programs. Then I make the final edit for each product before printing the packaging.
