Raynor Shine Enterprises was established on my way home after completing my last government employment contract as a consultant on social programs. They say "you do what you know" when you start a business, so that is what I did. For the next 7 years I consulted to private sector, non-profit and even government on social programs and did some custom personnel work. After completing a research project on a northern Canadian community in the early 1990s, and finally having had enough of trying to influence what I could not change, Raynor Shine laid off its last couple of employees and morphed into a wholesale company. I had always done a bit of buying and selling, I just starting doing it a lot harder. In the last 20+ years Raynor Shine has sold everything from heavy trucks and pleasure boats to endoscopes and mass spectrometers, 99% of it owned by the company, not brokered. For the last several years this has primarily involved used laboratory and medical equipment. Long experience has lead me to believe that the bottom line on any deal is best reached by its principals, so if a buyer wants to know my bottom line, the place to start is at the top, with me.
