A graduate of Carleton University in Sociology and Geography with a thesis focussed on social planning paradigms applied to economic diversification of single industry communities, Bruce has 15 years experience researching, developing and delivering innovative social enterprise initiatives and focussed skills-based training for at-risk and marginalized communities including youth, New Canadians and persons with disabilities. 12 social enterprises, 3 rounds of community led team entrepreneurship training, 5 successful pre-apprenticeship training projects and a variety of community based research and needs analysis as well as needs analysis and social purpose planning. He led a central Ontario community technology network (Community Access Program) initiating community based learning with a diverse set of community stakeholders. He developed and led Tekdesk, an award winning technology support and eLearning network for staff of 850 community libraries as a social enterprise. In 2008, Bruce began leading capacity building, eLearning and information services for a broad cause-based pan-Canadian network of environmental, arts, literacy and community development practitioners. He is currently director of GreenIT Techtogether based in Peterborough.
