Much the same as Honeywell, but with a much broader understanding and portfolio of products, services, and resources. Key achievements at Trane started with the introduction and growth of an integrated equipment, building controls and automation capability within the Dallas/Ft.Worth territory. After a dramatic turn-down in commercial building construction, mid 1980's, was instrumental in developing a strategic marketing plan and repositioning of resources to address the existing building market. This included reassigning and developing human resources, culture shift from product to solutions mindset, development of more sophisticated project management and fulfillment processes, and the introduction of financial tools and strategies such as leasing and performance contracting. These accomplishments in the Dallas/Ft.Worth District and corporate exposure lead to an opportunity to start a new business within Trane Commercial Division, as Business Unit Vice President at headquarters, La Crosse, WI. The new business unit was developed from scratch and eventually included products and services specifically for the existing building market. The initial focus and solutions responded to needs related to the ozone depletion regulations, indoor air quality and energy conservation. Participated in intake subcommittees for STOPAC - USEPA for the development of policies that eventually drove legislation meant to reduce ozone depletion. Also, participated in a broad coalition of manufactures focused on precluding and/or remediation of indoor air quality issues. Addressed numerous commercial building design, construction, asset management and support organizations in USA and abroad on the subjects of energy conservation, general environmental issues, indoor air quality and solutions financing.
