Advising Chinese students applying for MBA courses at UK universities. Required the ability to liaise with them online and through e-mail correspondence and to make informed evidentiary judgements about the quality of their applications and how they could be improved. It required close attention to detail and the self-motivation, organization and discipline to work independently and remotely.

Contract for a literature search and policy review on the position of a range of development and aid agencies on food security, resilience and recurrent crises. My report formed an appendix for the final report going to senior UN staff. It involved analysing and reporting on many data sources, both qualitative and quantitative, including those from: The World Bank, The World Food Program, The Department for International Development and The United Nations Development Program.

This required evaluative research and reporting to identify and measure the nature and scope of the existing activity. This informed a number of strategic and operational reports which advised senior management of development plans covering all aspects of establishing the department and improving the performance of the subjects. It progressed as a project management role on a three year time line, with mile stone evaluation, reporting points, staff management and budget monitoring. As well as teaching, administration and leading staff the role also included:• Forming excellent working and personal relationships across all levels of the institution;• Working persuasively in negotiation with senior managers and associated staff to successfully implement the development plan;• Leading staff and students through a period of change and development.Recruitment and retention in both subjects increased and pass rates went from 23% A-C, 78% A- E, to 74% A-C and 100% A - E Show less

The positions also included:• Forming stakeholder relationships and negotiating with senior staff of other local educational providers, including Winchester University, The Open University, Basingstoke College of Technology, The Open College Network, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and childcare providers to further widening participation projects;• Establishing a policy framework across these institutions that worked in sympathy with the individual institutions’ policies and the local education development plan whilst incorporating the UK Department for Education’s policy agenda for widening participation in higher education.
