Operate hydraulic turbine generators and their auxiliaries. Operate water control structures. Open, close and regulate spillway gates. Operate power-plant auxiliary systems such as potable and waste water systems, intake and spillway deicing systems, HVAC systems, lighting systems, telephone and radio communication systems, station battery, etc. Operate a digital computer controlled supervisory control system with data acquisition and alarm event recording (SCADA). Perform power-plant operations by utilizing the PPCS remote control consoles to start, stop, change generation and voltage levels. Perform switching associated with high voltage transmission lines, energize transmission lines and place reclosers in or out of service. Coordinate generation or transmission line outages with the system dispatch office, other federal agencies, and private power marketing companies. Monitor PPCS remote control consoles and logging devices for information or possible abnormal power-plant and transmission line conditions, take appropriate action to protect facilities and equipment, and to maintain or restore power generation and water releases. Issue clearances in accordance with current USACE HECP directives. Record hourly hydraulic data such as power and flood discharges, gross head, lake, and tailrace elevations. Maintain power-plant operating log and prepare power generation and transmission equipment operating reports. Prepare equipment malfunction reports, make inspections and from observation, determines whether equipment is operating properly. Monitor and check automatic acquisition of power, water, meteorological, hydrological data for accuracy and completeness. Use data to prepare reports and update operating record files. Train Power Plant Trades, and Shift Operators in HECP procedures.
