25 years of experience at executive level in energy, water, food, climate/environment in the public and private sectors working with the world’s top experts across research, education, innovation, technology and commercial delivery.I can’t remember a time when I was not strongly connected with water and the ocean – as a competitive swimmer from a young age, a keen sailor, studying for a PhD in waves and tidal currents and with them being a vital common thread throughout my career.I spent my first 5 years in Borneo where it rained almost every day and flooded frequently and yet where potable water was a treasured commodity. It was a place where I learned to value water as an asset and respect it as a threat - both on land and at sea.It is becoming increasingly clear that extending our understanding of water and the oceans and better protecting and managing them as a vital resource is critical in our fight against climate change since they are so influential in our three most valuable resources - food, energy and clean water. We often talk about 'going green', but our planet is mostly blue. Rising sea levels and more extremes of droughts and floods are affecting a growing global population, the delicate natural environment, vital infrastructure and fragile economies across the globe. But society isn't adapting fast enough. As a business and institutional leader I am driven to influence and accelerate this through educating and inspiring the next generation and at the same time engaging, energising, incentivising and connecting our existing world leading experts.I am relentless in my drive to further our understanding of water and the oceans and leading the development and delivery of state of the art solutions that address the global climate crisis.

Business Development Director - Emu Ltd, Acquired By Fugro In 2012Fugro 1998 - 2012Leidschendam, South Holland, NlEmu Ltd began as a 3 person management buy-out from Southern Water and became a globally recognised Marine Survey, Contracting and Consultancy business that went on to be acquired by Fugro Group, in 2012. My role within the team saw me setting and developing the strategy required to diversify away from Southern Water, with the target of total independence after 3 years. Our aim was to use the offshore renewables market to diversify services and growth from nearshore to offshore. This we successfully managed - gaining entry into that market through significant investment. This led to the doubling of turnover and resources in a single year.I also orchestrated various international JVs as part of a globalisation strategy; set up international offices in Dubai (2006), France (2010), and Perth (2011) and established various international agency agreements. -
