Formerly Conrad Gargett’s Managing Director before handing over in 2017, Bruce’s visionary leadership has been instrumental in upholding the practice’s design legacy and driving its growth. During his 20 year tenure, Conrad Gargett evolved from a Brisbane-based firm of 27 to a multi-studio practice of over 150 team members across Australia, with an ever-expanding portfolio of global and award-winning projects. Bruce is renowned for his inspirational work on some of the most prominent, innovative projects in Queensland, including the internationally awarded Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. He is president of the Queensland Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects. Bruce has worked on some of Queensland’s largest and most innovative building projects in roles from Project Architect and Designer to Project Director. A strategic thinker, with demonstrated management and communication skills, Bruce has grown Conrad Gargett from a 27 person practice to Brisbane to a firm of 150 in Sydney Brisbane Newcastle and Townsville with an ever increasing portfolio of award winning projects. He plays a vital role in securing projects across the health, education and defence sectors. Bruce led the Conrad Gargett Lyons team for the $1.4B Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital project. A project on which his reputation for innovative thinking has been further enhanced. He has recently led the master plan team for the $2.5B Sunshine Coast University Hospital and was technical advisor project for the State for its delivery. Bruce is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Architecture, University of Queensland, Chair of the Queensland College of Art Board, Chair of Vision Southbank and Chair of tech centred Hub4101.
