Senior strategic leader responsible for advancing the museum’s vision, mission and values in its continued growth as a leading cultural institution in Western Michigan. Provides creative leadership for the implementation of the comprehensive strategic plan for exhibitions and educational programming as an integrated practice and with a holistic approach for the visitor. This includes the creation/curation of visitor-centered exhibitions and related materials, long range planning of the exhibition schedule and contracts, and direction of the curatorial and education staff with oversight of educational and public programming for children, youth, families, and adults; the Intern, Docent and Volunteer Programs; the traveling exhibition program; and other museum functions including Retail and Operations.Works closely with the creative and empowered staff to build a culture of innovation, inclusion, collaboration, and teamwork. Working with the program staff, manages dynamic exhibition and learning programs that advance GRAM’s artistic mission, achieving high standards for content, creativity, and audience engagement.

Leads the development of a balanced and dynamic Learning and Creativity program, including but not limited to the existing areas of School Programs; Studio and Family Activities; Docent Program and Group Tours; Seasonal Programming (In-Gallery Participatory Areas and Theme or Exhibition-based Activities).Supervises and develops members of the Learning and Creativity Department.Collaborates with Curatorial Department and others on the programing team to ensure alignment of the Learning and Creativity vision with the interpretive, guest services, and community outreach goals.Serves as a member of the Museum’s Leadership Team, and participates in Executive/Finance Committee and full Board meetings.Plans, develops, implements, and manages approved budgets, and allocation of resources for department as well as other Museum-wide programs.Partners with Advancement Department on donor cultivation and development of grant proposals.Prepares research and responds to requests for information relating to the Learning and Creativity.Collaborates in the preparation of interpretive programming for new exhibitions, collection installations, and special projects.Represents the Museum in professional organizations, locally, regionally, and nationwide to ensure the Museum has a lively and productive relationship with peer professionals and institutions as well as the creative community and the general public.
