Dogwood Canyon is comprised of 250 acres of critical habitat located within Dallas County in the city of Cedar Hill. The Canyon lies along the Cedar Hill Escarpement, 12 miles southwest of downtown Dallas, and can be accessed from FM 1382. The Audubon Center at Dogwood Canyon will be within a 50-minute drive of four million people - a 20-minute drive from downtown Dallas and 15 minutes from 24 schools.Dogwood Canyon sustains the Metroplex's greatest variety of rare and endangered species. It is the last know nesting habitat in Dallas County for two endangered songbirds: the Golden-cheeked Warbler (prior to its discovery here its last known Dallas County nesting was 45 years ago) and the Black-capped Vireo. Species from East, West, and Central Texas converge here, making the Canyon the only place in the North America where one can find the Black-chinned Hummingbird of West Texas nesting in the Flowering Dogwood of East Texas. Dogwood Canyon also provides outstanding habitat for migrating and nesting birds. Orioles, tanagers, warblers, hummingbirds and others feed on the rich nourishment provided by its lush vegetation. White-eyed, Red-eyed and Warbling Vireos, Red-bellied and Downy Woodpeckers, Chuck-will's Widows and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, sing their songs seemingly from every tree.

Volunteers for nature education and outreach

The Baylor Angel Network (“BAN”) is a Baylor University organization which is dedicated to providing quality seed and early-stage investment opportunities for accredited angel investors (“Members”), while accomplishing its primary goal of educating and mentoring students attending the Hankamer School of Business. BAN will serve as a source of revenue for the Hankamer School of Business through the BAN Members sharing a portion of returns received from their investments.

Nanodiamond, 5-nm crystals of diamond, is made by recycling expired explosives and is potentially a very cost-effective nanomaterial with outstanding properties. To date, nanodiamond has found few applications because processing challenges prevent the successful incorporation of nanodiamond into end products. sp3 nanotech has developed proprietary technology to process nanodiamond into additives for commonly-used resins, coatings, and fluids. For example, adding nanodiamond to fiber-reinforced composites is the most cost effective way to build a stronger, lighter, stiffer composite. Adding nanodiamond to coolants increases the coolant’s ability to transfer heat. In lubricants, the nanodiamond reduces the wear of contact surfaces and reduces the coefficient of friction.
