R. Bruce Duffield has practiced as a trial attorney for over 45 years, concentrating in product liability defense, commercial disputes, class action defense, and construction litigation. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, his experience includes the defense of manufacturers of a wide range of industrial, chemical, aviation, marine, automotive and consumer products in jurisdictions nationwide, involving highly technical issues of product design, manufacture and performance, and regarding complex medical issues of causation and disability. Mr. Duffield’s greatest strength is his courtroom experience. He has tried more than 50 cases to verdict in jurisdictions nationwide, as well as formal arbitrations, involving a wide variety of complex commercial and product liability issues.Since transitioning to Senior Counsel at BCLP in November 2019, Mr. Duffield has devoted substantial time to interfaith work, seeking to build relationships of trust and respect among the diverse faiths in Chicagoland, and partnering with many religious and community organizations on humanitarian and service projects. He represents The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many interfaith and community organizations, including the Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago, the Naperville Interfaith Leaders Association, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Advisory Committee for DuPage County, and The Parliament of the World's Religions. His formal service for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has included callings as President of the Chicago Illinois Temple, Naperville Illinois Stake Presidency Counselor, Bishop of the Naperville First Ward, Elder's Quorum President, and Seminary Teacher.Bruce enjoys running, biking, and swimming, and has completed 7 marathons and dozens of triathlons. Bruce and his wife Denise celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in December 2023. They are very proud of their four children, their spouses, and twelve grandchildren.
