As VP Product, Bruce championed the strategic pivot from endpoint anti-virus to cloud-based services for consumers that work across any combination of operating systems present in a household to protect the privacy, data and devices of an individual or a whole family – brought together by a modernized, gamified, dynamic UI branded as AVG Zen that received strong positive reviews, cemented distribution deals with partners including Sony Xperia mobile and succeeded in driving higher engagement and conversion from free to paid. Bruce also worked closely with the mobile team on new standalone services including a secure wallet, with the browser extensions team on new browser-centric services and with the small business team to overhaul AVG CloudCare into an award-winning service. During his tenure at AVG, Bruce worked closely with his engineering peers to re-invent how services were designed and delivered to customers. Bruce was a key contributor in a critical company migration from Digital River to a brand new in-house e-commerce platform and store. The significant improvements achieved in performance, conversions and cost savings exceeded expectations. Symantec's online store now sells more software downloads to a global customer base than any other service in the world. Bruce led efforts which significantly improved conversion results from the global OEM channel (HP, Dell, Sony) through rapid, iterative improvements to the customer experience ranging from a much more consumer friendly lexicon through to the introduction of Express Renewal with a client-embedded checkout. Bruce also represented the Norton platform on the team that successfully switched Comcast to offering their subscribers Norton 360 rather than McAfee. To win the business the service was built and launched on time, only 2 months after the agreement was signed. Bruce also sponsored new anti-theft product and platform capabilities in order to grow retail point-of-sale volumes with major retail partners including Target and Walmart. Bruce led significant improvements to Norton Account, including enabling customers to log in and manage all their products, services and devices in one place, including downloading software with personal license keys already injected, seamlessly renewing current products and adding enhancements such as unlimited storage space. Bruce chaired the bi-weekly Online Business Strategy Forum in which priority/resource clashes between core product and platform were resolved and key strategies were aligned. Bruce also worked closely with Symantec’s Customer Research Group to define and roll out significant research projects aimed at testing and validating ideas for future business.

In this capacity Bruce drove the company decision process to overhaul their core security capabilities and drove partnerships with security technology providers - ensuring a continuation of their key promise to deliver best-of-breed security efficacy to their ISP customers and their consumers. Bruce conceived and delivered a new ‘Security Advisor’ consumer switching program, which using gamification to test the efficacy of existing security was successful in converting 1 in 5 consumers who tried it from their installed security, to a new ISP-branded suite provided by Radialpoint. Bruce for a key contributor to the licensing business model and partner processes for RoxioNow's QFlix hardware certification and licensing program and presented RoxioNow capabilities to studio and OEM executives at CES 2005.
