I am taking some time off to contemplate my next endeavors, which might include fishing, consulting, and/or plain old retirement. Latest assignment involved securing funding in the New York State budget to create and operate Central New York based registered apprenticeship programs in manufacturing, acting as a business intermediary on behalf of companies, with the New York State Department of Labor.Helped conceptualize and implement two Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) Mechanical and Electrical Technology programs in Syracuse and Auburn. All P-TECHs contain similar elements: three partners (business, community college, and high school), professional mentoring, work based learning, project based learning, six year integrated pathways, and dual enrollment resulting in high school diploma, associates degree, and industry credential for successful graduates.Managed employer involvement in a major US DOL TAACCCT Grant effort. Built and managed relationships between and among educators, The Manufacturers Alliance of New York (The Alliance) Partners, and employers to develop and promote educational pathways in advanced manufacturing. Worked with Alliance Partners and colleges to identify skill gaps and workforce needs, establish advisory boards and curriculum committees, and review and validate curricula aligned with the needs of advanced manufacturing. Alliance partners and colleges recruited trainees into programs; created “learn and earn” opportunities; and initiated career exploration activities.. Worked with many statewide and national organizations to promote industry recognized credentials.

Responsible for representing and promoting Onondaga’s Workforce Development Office by collaborating with business and industry, staff, faculty, college administrators, community leaders and community agencies on existing and new initiatives to include credit and non-credit programming and grants. Duties included outreach to profit, non-profit, and government employers, designing education and training programs with faculty members and clients, implementation and administration of programs, project management, authoring contracts and memorandums of understanding, and assisting with the College’s strategic planning initiatives. Contributed to authoring major Department of Labor and National Science Foundation Grants involving multiple partners. Played a significant role in conceptualizing and authoring successful 14.6 million dollar U.S. Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Act Community College Career Training Grant awarded to New York in 2012. Administered U.S. Department of Energy and other grants. Authored and administered numerous workforce development grants.

Responsible for recruiting non-traditional students for University College, the part-time arm of Syracuse University, Professional Legal Education including the ABA Approved Legal Studies Bachelor’s Degree Program, the Paralegal Certificate Program, Legal Studies Minor, Continuing Legal Education (with the College of Law), the Tax Institute, and related programs as needed. I also acted as liaison to the College of Human Services and Health Professions (HSHP) for all part-time programs and liaison to HSHP, the College of Law, and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications for summer programming. Appointed to be University College’s liaison to the University for Academic Integrity and Assessment Committees (Middle States reaccreditation). Drafted and maintained University College Bylaws. Overall duties include policy formulation, preparation of proposals, program and curriculum development, database construction, recruitment and development of faculty and staff, budget creation and oversight, promotion and advertising, records management, and planning and assessment of existing and new initiatives. Position involves working with internal and external university faculty and staff, attorneys and other professionals, public and private legal departments, legal associations, and various public agencies.

Responsible for management and implementation of the College's recruitment and admissions program including: review and decisions on applications; communications with applicants; involvement of faculty, student groups and volunteers in recruitment; contacts with prospective students; administration of visitor programs; and coordination of admissions office functions with other departments within both the College and University.

(while in law school) Responsible for supporting the Secretary, the Board of Trustees, and the Chancellor Search Committee in the search for a 10th Chancellor and President for Syracuse University. Duties included research, budget development, procedure formation, position descriptions, goal identification, writing and editing, solicitation and review of consultant proposals, record maintenance, correspondence, and full support for all committee meetings and interviews. Responsibilities included working with senior university officials, the Board of Trustees, executive search consultants, administrators from other universities, faculty, students, and search candidates..

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF EMPLOYEE RELATIONS - GOER was responsible for contract negotiations with the State's 157,000 unionized employees and acted with the Department of Civil Service as an oversight and control agency for the State's human resource and employee development functions. Responsibilities included administration of human resource management programs (16,000 employees), orientation programs (20,000 employees), performance evaluation systems (200,000 employees), and our agency's report to the Governor. Supervised research evaluations, contracts, collective bargaining, computer systems, and curriculum development and worked with all major state agencies, public employee unions, colleges and universities, and private contractors.STATEWIDE ADMINISTRATOR, JOINT LABOR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEES - Responsible for instituting New York State's first statewide public sector apprenticeship program including design, development, administration, and evaluation of three-year apprenticeships in the skilled trades areas. The cited and award winning program was copied by several other states. Worked with 15 major state agencies, public sector unions, building trades unions, colleges and community colleges, private contractors, other state governments, and the national government.
