Latest assignment involved securing funding in the New York State budget to create and operate Central New York based registered apprenticeship programs in manufacturing, acting as a business intermediary on behalf of companies, with the New York State Department of Labor.Helped conceptualize and implement two Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) Mechanical and Electrical Technology programs in Syracuse and Auburn. All P-TECHs contain similar elements: three partners (business, community college, and high school), professional mentoring, work based learning, project based learning, six year integrated pathways, and dual enrollment resulting in high school diploma, associates degree, and industry credential for successful graduates.Managed employer involvement in a major US DOL TAACCCT Grant effort. Built and managed relationships between and among educators, The Manufacturers Alliance of New York (The Alliance) Partners, and employers to develop and promote educational pathways in advanced manufacturing. Worked with Alliance Partners and colleges to identify skill gaps and workforce needs, establish advisory boards and curriculum committees, and review and validate curricula aligned with the needs of advanced manufacturing. Alliance partners and colleges recruited trainees into programs; created “learn and earn” opportunities; and initiated career exploration activities.. Worked with many statewide and national organizations to promote industry recognized credentials.
Responsible for representing and promoting Onondaga’s Workforce Development Office by collaborating with business and industry, staff, faculty, college administrators, community leaders and community agencies on existing and new initiatives to include credit and non-credit programming and grants. Duties included outreach to profit, non-profit, and government employers, designing education and training programs with faculty members and clients, implementation and administration of programs, project management, authoring contracts and memorandums of understanding, and assisting with the College’s strategic planning initiatives.
