I am a business leader from a financial background and I have developed my strategic, commercial and people skills over almost 30 years of working in entrepreneurial businesses. I have been a finance director, a CFO, a CEO and a managing director for many fast growth SMEs. These have been privately owned, listed companies, venture capital backed businesses or the subsidiaries of large quoted companies and I have also joined and worked in companies in administration. The common theme for my career is managing major change and the challenges and opportunities that such change presents to the business and to the people involved. The common objective is building shareholder value through creating sustainable structures and business models. My sector experience includes security; automotive; aerospace & defence; contracting and professional services, retail, care and biotech. What have I learned from working across such a range of sectors? People are what makes the difference (coaching, mentoring and developing people is a great reward), genuine company culture can add great value and through all things cash is king, its management and retention is a pre-requisite for everything else. My commercial experience covers a whole range of transactions that might be encountered by a business including M&A and disposals, IPO’s and fund raising (AIM and full list), financial and corporate restructuring, banking and investor relations.
