Employment2001-2020: Research Assistant, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Insect Toxicology LabA position created essentially for me. Originally, a temporary, on-call position, which we transformed into a half time position with benefits. Official job titles varied over time. Assisted with experiments (bioassays), testing various toxins for the possibility of resistance in target insects, mainly European Corn Borers.Created interactive spreadsheet templates in Microsoft Excel. This was to more easily enter our resulting data into “SAS” statistical programming software (a task which was also mine). Shared these templates with collaborators in industry, who used them subsequently, or incorporated them into their work.Produced documents in Microsoft Word for use by supervisors and our research directors. Most significantly, these were destined for publication in scientific journals.Created posters with Microsoft PowerPoint featuring our research results. Annual meetings of the Student Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (three times), The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, and the International Design Conference at Aspen. Also displayed my comical, entertaining "Golf Ball Sorter" student project at an American Institutes of Architects Convention in Kansas City.Spring semester of my senior year spent with the College of Architecture’s study abroad program in London, England. Personal Life GoalsProperty, Fiduciary, PhilanthropicRejuvenate an existing 73-acre wetland/floodplain habitat and adjacent farm ground into a nature reserve, cabin site, and campground to be enjoyed by families and small group gatherings.Convert my Lincoln, Nebraska house, a foreclosure purchase, into a public asset. It will be an economic demonstration of solar design, passive energy, and green technologies. Conserve and preserve financial and farm resources (from the diligence and thrift of my parents, grandparents, and extended family). I have corralled modest, liquid assets which (since my mother’s passing in 2010) have grown into a more substantial portfolio. My plan is to create an endowment with these funds, without expending a fortune on professional fees. Two thirds are currently in a trust, for which I am trustee.
