These Linked In introductions are always a little horn-blowing, so cover your ears, here goes:I got my start in advertising through an Ogilvy & Mather copywriter contest. “$10K and your own office” read the ad in the New York Post. The job was writing direct mail for American Express. Not advertising exactly, but interesting. So I stayed for a few years and learned valuable lessons in branding, sales psychology and getting results that would eventually help me reach creative management positions at Ammirati & Puris, Scali McCabe Sloves, Leo Burnett, Wunderman, OgilvyOne, and still have enough curiosity to start Interplanetary, my own agency.For 30+ years I swung between brand advertising and direct/digital marketing, doing integrated marketing before it had a name, horrifying direct marketers by introducing creative based on "idea" rather than proven formula, and unsettling brand people with creative that looked like brand advertising. Over these 30+ years I worked on many important clients and learned from the best: Ed McCabe, Sam Scali, Ralph Ammirati, Leslie Dektor, Lester Wunderman, Steve Hayden and many brilliant CMOs.
