Employed as part of maintenance core crew on the FPF-1 production platform. Completed commissioning phase in Remontowa shipyard, Gdansk, and now on location in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Total Shetland Gas Plant

Commissioning instrument technician on new landfall gas plant accepting pipelines from the Laggan and Tormore fields with a projected start up in 2015.Daily duties involve witnessing pre-commissioning testing by site installation department and third party vendors, line walking of installed equipment, checking installed equipment against site P&ID's and creating punch lists where applicable.Directly involved in pre- commissioning & commissioning of Solar Gas Turbine Generators. This includes fault-finding, remedial, completion of ICAPS and testing Allen Bradley logic in conjunction with vendor.

Ocean Vanguard

Employed as part of the maintenance department on the Ocean Vanguard semi-submersible drilling rig. The installation is operating in the Norwegian sectorStatoil. During a major shipyard upgrade I was involved in the commissioning of a NOV Cyber Drilling System as well as a SCR upgrade and installation of Siemens Control cubicles. This included use of Siemens S7 software control and hardware fault-finding techniques. I also was involved in an upgrade to the Anchor Winch Control systems with Strainstall A.S. As well as the drilling control systems I am responsible for the Fire & Gas, ESD ,Telecomms, PA, Radio, Crane Control & IT systems

I was responsible for directing and co-ordinating the daily activities of the Instrument Team and supporting the delivery of health, safety, environmental and technical integrity standards as part of the Maersk safety management system. Also responsible for the safe and efficient functioning of all instrumentation, telecommunications equipment, DCS control system and all associated equipment.

Sevan Hummingbird Fpso, Uk Sector North Sea

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor during construction/commissioning in Keppel Verolme boatyard in Rotterdam then offshore subsequently achieving 1st oil and steady production with regular tanker offloads. Daily duties included corrective & periodic maintenance of process, marine, tanker telemetry, telecoms and IT systems. I attended conference call meetings to onshore support to assist with work pack compilation and implementation. I liaised with vendors prior to mobilisation and worked closely with the onshore technical authority to ensure our systems were maintained to DNV class standards. Updated Maximo CMMS to ensure an auditable record covering our work scopes and areas of responsibility. Latterly I was based onshore acting as a focal point for a maintenance review of marine systems and associated performance standards.

Ramform Banff Fpso, Uk Sector North Sea

Operating the Banff & Kyle reservoirs for CNR in the Central Sector of the North Sea.I was initially an instrument technician during commissioning stages, offshore hook-up and subsequent onshore stability modifications and topsides upgrades. I then became the senior instrument technician on my shift.I was responsible for day to day running of the instrument maintenance program, organising work schedules such that production down time was minimised and stock levels of spare parts were easily ascertained and available. I was involved in drafting of permits, risk assessments and associated safety procedures.I was focal point for the CMMS database (STAR SIS).I liaised closely with other departments and the Chief Engineer.During my normal working day I had to be flexible as it consisted of attending meetings to discuss upcoming work, contacting vendors by phone and email regarding parts and service requirements, assessment of incoming fault reports and prioritising the specific response to each. I also carried out verification testing of process, marine, tanker telemetry, telecoms and IT systems.

Employed as part of the Halliburton/Brown & Root maintenance team,I gained experience of a wide array of process instrumentation. I was involved in the commissioning of the Norpipe tie-in where new oil export and gas import modules were installed on a fixed platform. Achieved my NVQ Level 3 in Maintaining Instrument & Control Systems (ECITB accredited) during this period.

During my apprenticeship I spent part of that time at Osprey Electronics (now Koningsberg Simrad), manufacturer of underwater camera systems.
