Responsible for complete Tooling Operations which included Process Engineering, Tool Design, Conventional & CNC Machining, Heat Treat and Tool Room, with 70 hourly & salaried staff including Tool Designers, Process Engineer, Conventional Machinists, CNC EDM Machinists, CNC Wire EDM Machinists, CNC Mill Machinists, Toolmakers, CNC Programmers, Test Technicians, Quality Technicians, Store Keeper, Supervisors, Accountant, Assistants, & Scheduler.Eliminated annual tooling losses of $3 million and broke even in tooling operations for the first time in recent company history while achieved tooling sales of a record $7,000,000 in 2001 through strategic process and implementation sessions, aggressive continuous improvement programs, improved quality initiatives, and a reduction in overtime. Reduced tooling lead time from 18 weeks to 10 weeks for complex tooling and 7 days for prototype tooling using a Task Force to analyze operations, map processes, implement time and motion studies, and develop new processes.Implemented Synchronous Flow Management principles resulting in five fewer employees required, the sale of equipment, streamlining of manufacturing processes, increased tooling output by 40 tools, and a 6 week reduction in tooling lead time.
