Responsible for ongoing development and maintenance of application integration systems using JCAPS (Java Composite Applications Platform Suite). This is an Oracle product used for application integration, often within the healthcare industry. We use JCAPS to provide the central interface mechanism for the various hospital systems. It uses JMS for the communications, along with a highly flexible and scalable domain-based architecture. McKesson acts as an outsourcing provider for Northeast Georgia Health System, which includes the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the location for this position.

Development and maintenance of existing products, design and development of new products, mentoring of younger developers

• Developed a TCP/IP interface to the Infogenesis POS system. This is an XML-based communications format, with the data flowing from their system to LMS via a TCP/IP sockets connection where Infogenesis acted as the client. Various POS transactions such as ticket settlement, credit card authorization, and room charge authorization, were handled by this interface. The communications side of this was developed in Java, with the business logic being handled by legacy programs on the iSeries.• Provided application design documents and estimates for various interface requests from vendors such as IBM for their hotel kiosk system, Group One for their Universal Coder solution, and Micros for their Opera Exchange Interface. These are all Web Services based interface, using SOAP protocol and XML based message formats. • Developed a proof-of-concept EDI interface for the MMS application, using cXML for the EDI data format. • Provided maintenance and enhancements for the LMS and MMS products, as well as implementation and configuration of interfaces, both on-site and remotely for customers. Languages used include RPG IV, CL, and Java.

• Replaced obsolete, problematic file transfer utility with Java-based application. Project was mine from conception to design, to distribution with our package. Development involved Visual Basic, Java, and RPG IV and CL on the iSeries. Project Lead role on this, responsible for all aspects of this project from beginning to end.• Upgraded file transfer utility to be compatible with new Windows design tool. Involved heavy modifications and enhancements on the PC side, and a complete rewrite of the 400-side programs. Project Lead role on this, responsible for all aspects of this project from beginning to end. The development of the design tool was outsourced to a company in the UK, coordinated development efforts with their team. Development here was also in Visual Basic, Java, and RPG IV and CL on the iSeries.• Streamlined a section of the application involving merging iSeries data with PCL document overlays, specifically having to do with directing output to multiple LaserJet printers. Processing time was reduced approximately 30%. All development was in ILE RPG IV and RPG III.• Developed a proof-of-concept in-house web application to generate temporary authorization codes for sales reps. This was to be hosted on an iSeries, to allow access and manipulation of iSeries application data in the code generation step of the process. Web development was done using Java servlets, and Apache’s Tomcat web server.
