Hemp, Inc., purchased the largest decortication plant in North America. The plant, Industrial Hemp Manufacturing, LLC, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hemp, Inc. After the purchase it was moved to Spring Hope, North Carolina, to a 70 Million square foot warehouse on 9 acres. The plant is scheduled for completion in 2016.The plant will produce fiber products from kenaf initially. The first two are DrillWall™ - a lost circulation material (LCM), and SpillSuck™ - an oil absorbent. Later products will be produced from industrial hemp.Lost circulation material (LCM) is mandatory for any drilling project because it stops the loss of fluids around drill bits as they drill into the earth. This product alone is capable of producing millions of dollars in revenue for Hemp, Inc. According to a Navy research study, the core of the kenaf plant is one of the most absorbent materials on earth. DrillWall™ has been used by major oil companies across the globe, and SpillSuck™ was used in the BP oil spill off the coast of Louisiana in 2010.
