About Bruce Renouard

People who know me know about my sincere thirst for knowledge and my zest for life. These two characteristics keep me mentally sharp, physically strong and high-output. I’ve helped $300M to $1B+ companies achieve double -and triple-digit growth. I have a reputation of being a change agent, with down-to-earth humor and an a deep well of energy. I focus on identifying the changes required in organizations and business models prior to implementing solutions. To-date these include changes to strategies, systems, processes, culture, and people. I’ve built cohesive operations across 35 countries and created cultures of “selling value” that still differentiates the companies I was fortunate enough to lead. All of these accomplishments required global team work of teams up to 350 strong, and have left me with a profound sense of gratitude toward so many inspired teammates. I recently focused my attention on the most exciting challenge of my life. People with an understanding of power semiconductors are calling what Pre-Switch technology delivers the “holy grail” of power electronics. Our Silicon Valley company solved a problem most innovators gave up trying to solve. By virtually eliminating transistor switching losses, reducing EMI and dV/dt, Pre-Switch is delivering a step function in improved efficiency, or cost reduction, never achieved in the past. As a team, we envision a world in which everything using fossil fuel today will be electrically driven and controlled.     Pre-Switch is bringing to market a disruptive power conversion technology that promises unrivaled gains in power converter efficiency, size and cost reduction, and EV car range extension. Since the introduction of transistorized power converters in the early 1960s, engineers have been challenged by the confining limitations of hard-switched transistor losses. Promising cost and size reductions enabled by faster switching speeds have been limited by increases in unwanted heat, wasted energy and expensive heat extraction methods. As a consequence, even the best power converters used today in motor drives, wind turbines, solar inverters, E-mobility, and others are still hindered by slow switching frequencies.The key to breaking through the 50-year-old hard-switching innovation barrier has been a promising technology known as "soft-switching".  Past soft-switching technologies worked modestly but remained ineffective for the vast majority of power converters because they stopped soft-switching under real world conditions of varying input and output.  Pre-Flex AI is our embedded AI technology which enables accurate soft-switching across any varying input and output condition while automatically compensating for variances in manufacturing and device tolerances.  Our technology is simply implemented with minimal external component costs and is available in chip, controller board and gate driver board options. The results are staggeringly positive. Pre-Flex AI eliminates 70-80% of IGBT and 90-95% of SiC & GaN MOSFET switching losses. Equally important, our architecture dramatically reduces the dV/dt and EMI associated with the increased switching speeds.  Pre-Switch has broken through the 50-year-old hard-switched innovation barrier. Soft-switching is the future of power conversion and the world will adopt our technology.We are Pre-Switch, Inc.
