He started in the industry in 1994, working for a General Contractor building custom residences. His experience has allowed him the opportunity to be involved in a variety of building types including hospitality, resort, multi & single family housing, offices, institutional, and religious facilities. Graduating in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Utah, he then completed his formal education, earning a Master of Architecture degree from Newschool of Architecture in San Diego, CA in 2000. First licensed in California in 2003, he is also licensed in Utah and Nevada, is NCARB Certified and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a volunteer at heart, and began serving in the profession as the first AIAS Chapter President for Salt Lake Community College, then an IDP Coordinator for the AIA California Council, Secretary/Treasurer in the Central Utah Section of AIA Utah, Programs Adviser for the AIA National Young Architects Forum Advisory Committee, President of the AIA Central Utah Section and as the AIA Utah PR Committee Chair. In 2014, he served as the jury chair for the AIA Western Mountain Region Honors Awards Committee. He also serves on the local AIA Honors & Awards Committee, and as a board member for the Utah Center for Architecture. He volunteers in the community with the Boy Scouts of America, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as a club soccer coach and served on the Planning Commission in his city. All of this volunteer work enriches his professional experience and perspective as a licensed architect. Most important in his life is his wife of over 25 years and his four children.
