I specialises in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), and has developed an innovative pedagogical approach ‘Experience Synchronization’ for rapid upskilling and reskilling. My current post working as Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Lead and senior lecturer at School of Architecture, Building and Design, Taylor’s University, was appointed as Co-Director of VORTEX XR Lab (Action). Previously I was working as assistant professor at The School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. Before this I worked as a lecturer and BIM Lead in the School of Built Environment, University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM). I was also a civil engineer for 4 years working with both civil and structure consultant and contractor firms.During my career in higher education, I have the special opportunity to educate students from different professional programs such as architecture, civil engineering and quantity surveying. This unique experience enables me to better understand the whole construction life cycle and process, later inspired me to explore BIM as a game-changing approach to integrate and transform construction industry. I have participated in Autodesk Training Center’s tailored Certified BIM Professional program and acquired Certified Revit Architecture Professional. I am an international speaker on Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and has conducted keynote workshop for European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB) annual conference 2023 at Sweden, invited speaker for EDUTEch Asia Conferences 2021/23 at Singapore, Digital EPC Conference at World Digital Engineering Summit 2019 at Thailand. I has started and led 2 Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs) ‘Building Information Modelling 101 and 202’ in Openlearning with more than 7800 students who are mostly practicing professionals since 2014. I am also a HRDF certified trainer providing training in digital construction.Any views are expressed in a personal capacity.
