Facilitated communication between the physician and various non-English speaking families and patients during clinical rotations in order to ease administration of healthcare and comfort families in a foreign environment. Interpreted for around 3-6 clinic appointments per shift.Helped schedule patients based on availability and urgency, while rescheduling others to help increase efficiency and productivity of the clinic. Created electronic medical records for new patients and ensured that information was properly interpreted from spanish to english on each record. Worked along with a team of members to help transport Electronic Medical Records (EMR) from one outdated system that was due to expire onto a newer, modernized system that would allow for cross-platform viewing and sharing of EMRs. Transported about 50-70 EMRs per shift. Assisted Dr. Payne during clinical rotations while patients arrived for consultations, pre-operative care, and post-operative care throughout the duration of their recovery. Learned how to treat and speak to patients and their families in a professional manner while maintaining a healthy doctor-patient relationship. Interacted with about 5-10 patients per clinical rotation. Occasionally helped translate Dr. Payne’s treatment plans and potential concerns to patients who had difficulty communicating in English and preferred to communicate in Spanish through an interpreter. (There was always a professional Medical Translator nearby). Offered assistance with any medically unrelated jobs in order to help Dr. Payne save money on simple jobs. These jobs included setting up medical displays, disassembling and reassembling tables in separate rooms, setting up Operating Room curtains and attaching them to the ceiling, and hanging various décor around the new clinic.
