Viaverda builds on many decades of practical research, demonstration and extension in agriculture, horticulture and green management. We have been working intensively with growers and landscapers to find pragmatic solutions to the many challenges in field, garden and greenhouse. More than 2,500 member companies underline the relevance of our practical research approach. Viaverda aims to combine complementary cultivation expertise in vegetables, potatoes, floriculture, tree nursery and landscaping to provide maximum support to growers and landscapers from an ever stronger knowledge base.

PCS-Ornamental Plant Research is active in applied scientific research as well as more practice-oriented research and extension services, located in Destelbergen (B). Important research themes are the optimization of culture methods, growth and flowering regulation, use of energy, quality and post harvest properties of ornamental plants and research for practical utility. Environmental protection has become a very important research theme, including energy management for greenhouses and integrated pest management using beneficial insects. In this context, PCS developed an observation and warning system for pests and diseases in nursery stock and has also a program for guided control in glasshouse cultures Recently, we also focused on closed culture systems, to ensure zero contamination of fertilizers and pesticides in the environment.

PCG-Vegetable Research is a research centre for applied research and extension services in vegetable production located in Kruishoutem (B). PCG's mission is to collect, develop and propagate reliable knowledge to all actors in agriculture and horticulture. The aim of the Centre is to strengthen the knowledge base of vegetable production through in depth research and to transfer scientific knowledge to practical information for growers. Though its focus is on both field and greenhouse vegetables, PCG is the designated research centre for organic greenhouse vegetables. PCG has a highly motivated and dedicated staff of researchers and technicians, with the knowledge and practical experience to develop feasible solutions to problems of its clients. Because of the major importance of crop protection, the research centre received its GEP accreditation to carry out efficiency and phytotoxicity trials. PCG also acts as a centre of expertise on water related topics, both irrigation and waste water management. Irrigation monitoring, wastewater treatment, water reuse and prevention of nutrient losses through drainage are the main subjects here.

PCA-Potato Research is the research centre dedicated to technical support of potato growers through applied research, extension services and demonstrative projects. Strong model based advisory service integrating weather data and disease parameters to help growers implement integrated pest management.
