This role primarily involved the testing of various LED lights on the hydroponic cultivation of tomato and lettuce plants. Plants were partitioned down the middle with either side exposed to a single wavelength of light at matching light irradiance levels and again for matching light intensity. After the growth period, the plant morphology, chlorophyll content, and wet/dry weights were analyzed to determine if the split light exposure caused the plants to have different characteristics on either side of each partitioned plant, or if the light treatment would cause the plants to exhibit similar traits on either side of the partition. I also assisted in the data collection and maintenance of other projects including a study of the use of biochar in hydroponic systems and the propagation of lettuce plants grown using different media and substrates in a growth chamber.
