“Providing solutions for electric machine design, electromagnetism, and the electrification of transportation".Dr. Bruno Lequesne is an inventor, expert and technology leader in the design, development, and application of electric motors, generators, actuators and sensors for automotive, aerospace, and other industries. His background at General Motors, Delphi and Eaton gives him a unique perspective on components and systems from starter-generators to full electric propulsion, or from electric steering to fuel injection, expanding more recently to aerospace. His consulting provides electric machine design, electromagnetic analysis, system and technology development, and expert witness services in these fields. His public engagements and publications have earned him a number of awards from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). With 53 patents to date, on electric machines, sensors, electromagnetism and electro-mechanical systems, he has a keen understanding of technology and IP development. With seven core IEEE societies and over 6,000 individual members, the community strives at developing new programs (tutorials, conferences, etc) on topics overlapping existing IEEE societies. A current focus is on standard development and coordination on all matters related to transportation, from powertrain to autonomous vehicles, and all modes of transport.

I have been a member of the board of this society since 2004, as treasurer (2004-2006), then vice-president (2007-2008), president-elect (2009-2010), now immediate past president (2013-2014). This is a volunteer organization with some 12,000 members worldwide.During my tenure as president, I oversaw the creation of three technical committees (from 17 before) in transportation, renewable systems and electrical safety, as well as considerable growth in regional chapters, particularly in Asia and Latin America. Several new technical publications, magazine and transactions, were also initiated in collaboration with other IEEE societies.
