I was mainly in charge of processing and assisting in client intake, interviews, and answering questions related to the legal services or status of their individual case. Likewise, I properly managed and maintained individual client cases by organizing legal documents and any other related files into the appropriate categories and responded to any legal or administrative inquires for our clients. Additionally, I drafted a variety of legal documents that included letters of representations, request for records, and discovery for plaintiffs as well as Calculated Temporary Total Disability/Temporary Partial Disability rates (TTD/TPD) for clients in accordance with the Iowa Worker Compensation rates. Furthermore, I was also tasked with translating documents into Spanish, assisted in preparing clients for depositions and handled any fiscal transactions associated with any of the cases

The University of Iowa Student Government, at its core, exists to empower students. One of the most notable roles of UISG is to allocate approximately $1.8 million from the student activity fee to fund student organizations, leadership development, and student services. Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program for low-income, first-generation students with college aspirations. The summer portion of this has local high school students stay in one of the dorms to experience what life on campus is like. I helped mentor over 80 high school students on a daily basis on issues related to related to education, self, and family. As well as planned curriculum for programs dealing with these issues, improving their critical thinking skills and provide career exploration opportunities. Most importantly, I answered any questions relating to pursuing a college career for first generation students and parents.
