My work was focused on the maintenance of the sewerage pipelines, seeking for different technologies to increase the workforce productivity and simultaneously keeping the sewerage system operating at its maximum capacity. This system provides sewerage collection, transport, and treatment for approximately 4 million habitants in the metropolitan region of Recife (RMR).

During this aforementioned period, I was nominated as the leader of the team, having the responsibilities of administrating the finances, strategies, and researching goals. I worked monitoring and controlling the implementation of sewerage pipe lines throughout the city of Recife. The aim of my work was to optimize the timespan of the underground constructions, reducing costs and decreasing the environmental impacts.

A Low Cost Caly Pot Filter – Engineering Without Borders - NJITAiming to provide a drinkable water to the community of Milot, Haiti who were struggling to find a consistent source of clean drinking water. Engineering without borders at NJIT have projected Bio-sand filter that brought the capability to produce clean drinking water to many households in Milot, however, the clay pot filters can expand EWB-NJIT’s influence to produce clean drinking water because of its lightweight and low cost.The main time of the project was spent in finding the best combination of material that would remove pathogens as well as pesticides and heavy metals such as Pb, Cd, and As in drinking water, using locally available materials found in the developing nations for the development of low-cost clay-pot filters. The filtering system intend to have the capability of operating under adverse economic, social, and environmental conditions.Pollution Prevention Program Member of a EPA funded Community Based Pollution Prevention Program at NJIT, working with small business in the Newark and Jersey City area. Carrying out and implementing projects in pollution prevention areas that include Solid & Hazardous Waste Management, Lifecycle Analysis, Technical writing, Spill Control Plans, and Green & Sustainable Chemistry applied to industry-specific practices. As a result, at the end of the summer program, to was possible reduce 14332 lbs/yr of Hazardous Waste with a saving of $24469/yr within the Auto body, Auto Repair, Printing, Metal Finishing, Beauty Care, and Construction & Demolition industries.
