For its realization, it is necessary to combine different sensors, actuators, mathematical models and machine learning techniques. The objective of this thesis was to improve the user experience in smart environments based on information obtained in indoor environments, following a non-intrusive occupational monitoring. For this, it is necessary to know if there are occupants and their number, which is obtained through the application of machine learning techniques and patterns recognition mechanisms to the environmental data gathered by a developed system. The results obtained during this research demonstrate that with a developed system, it is possible to obtain, process and store environmental information. Additionally, the analysis performed over the gathered data using machine learning and pattern recognition mechanisms depicts that it is possible to determine the occupancy of indoor environments. Thus this information could be taken into consideration by a third-party application to improve the occupant's experience in smart environments.● Acquired SkillsThe ability to carry out research with autonomy, integrating knowledge acquired throughout the course and acquiring new knowledge (such as IoT, prototyping, machine learning), promoting the development of my critical analysis, synthesis and creativity.
