Serve as course faculty and prepare students with foundational knowledge and skills to advance health equity and provide evidence-based, culturally safe patient care. Theories and tools for promoting health at the individual, community, and population levels are introduced with a focus on social determinants of health. Students practice communication skills to build therapeutic relationships with patients and to enhance intraprofessional collaboration. Reflective practice is introduced to enhance knowledge integration and self-awareness as a foundation for professional development. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply their knowledge to effectively support behavior change and promote health for diverse individuals and populations.
