About Bruno Hay
With my dual managerial and scientific skills in the field of thermal metrology, I have been in charge at LNE (Laboratoire national de métrologie et d'essais) for over twenty years of increasingly large-scale operational structures combining research projects and commercial services. As National Metrology Institute, one of our major activities at LNE is to design reference facilities based on absolute methods, enabling measurements traceable to the International System of Units (SI). I am currently in charge of the Photonics-Energetics division, overseeing experienced metrology teams in the fields of energy (from production to use) and materials (study of the thermal properties of materials and metrological characterization of nanomaterials).To develop these structures, I drew on the "research/service activity" duality of the organizations, encouraging exchanges between teams and strengthening the coherence between R&D work and the services provided. The strategy implemented to achieve this is structured around three key areas, with a common thread running through them: enhancing the value of the metrology teams' areas of expertise: - define R&D programs based on exchanges with industrial partners,- translate metrological developments into services to meet their needs,- promote scientific results through oral communications and articles to raise our visibility.
