I have been responsible directly for all the following areas, at different stages and levels:- Involved in all activities of the investment deal process, from deal origination, target assessment and negotiation with sellers, to implementation (i.e. due diligence, structuring, legal, approval and funding stages), and on-going investee monitoring at director board and governance committee levels, post-deal administration including quarterly valuation and portfolio management- Various funding instruments utilised including inter alia; ordinary shares, preference shares (gearing and participating), shareholder loans, mezzanine funding instruments, warrants, options, and investee management participation structures- Involved in all stages of the negotiation and bidding processes for the exit from investee companies- Involved in direct investment stakes, Black Economic Empowerment transactions as well as co-investment opportunities- Involved in the executing of various deal originations initiatives - Lead investor and arranger in leveraged buyout and other investments- Lead transactor in the exit of portfolio investmentsI have travelled to the following geographies on business matters; Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities:The assessment and monitoring of group insurance risk exposure around the world, cash flow analysis, high level management system control reviews and the restructure of the group procurement strategies.

KPMG South Africa audit responsibilities were divided into two main categories –- Supervision of audit staffI had both qualified and partly qualified audit staff reporting to me. I was responsible for the staffing of individual audits, co-ordinating staff training, counselling of staff members and general administration of the audit group.- Managing of individual auditsI was responsible for managing the audits of several listed and unlisted companies. My duties included liaison with senior KPMG management, planning of the audit, reviewing of all audit work papers, review / preparation of financial statements, preparing and presenting of reports to client management, and the negotiation and collection of fees.
