Knight Fellow at Stanford in 1998-99, concentrating on business and media studies also a former fellow of the American Studies Program at the World Press Institute in Macallester College.

Lead Univision’s Mexico bureau operations for close to 10 years. Produced and reported over 2400 news packages covering all, from presidential elections, to guerrilla movements, corruption, drug trafficking and cultural trends. Managed the day to day operations of a broadcast staff working for several TV properties produced by Univision. Was nominated twice to receive Emmy Awards for our Mexico’ coverage.

International Spanish language Newscast West Coast Bureau Chief ,Based In Los Angeles, covered everything relevant for the Hispanic market from Seattle to San Diego. Produced, reported and edited an average of four stories per week on all topics from Undocumented workers getting hunted at the border by vigilantes to the Oscar's and earthquakes and the emergence of Latino culture and Latino political influence on the West Coast.

Roving Correspondent •In charge of covering Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean for this large regional newspaper based in Phoenix which at the time had a 300,000 daily circulation. •Assignments included entering the US as an illegal alien, finding a job and sharing with others the life of undocumented workers.•Produced some of the earliest stories on the boom of the Mexican drug trade as well as on the rise of repression in Mexico’s countryside.

Operating of Mexico City, I was one of the editors in charge of helping coordinate coverage of all of México as well as Central America for what then was one of the largest news wire services in the world. Covered the early stages of the contra war in Nicaragua, broke the story on the beginning of the largest exodus in the history of Guatemala, one that uprooted dozens of towns, sparked by the brutal repression of the military government of Efrain Rios Mont. Also uncovered the biggest scandal of the presidency of President Miguel de la Madrid, that of his corrupt private secretary who embezzled millions of dollars from the Rural Credit Bank, responsible for helping the poorest peasants in México.
