I played a key role in projects focused on change management, where I primarily handled policy reviews and executive communications.In addition, I was deeply involved in youth employability and resettlement programs. My contributions led to several successful funding applications and significant internal changes within local authorities.

In May of 2019, I took on the role of Employee Communications Manager for special projects. This meant that I was a change agent strategically placed in various areas supporting a number of initiatives, whilst simultaneously monitoring the change management process through effective and consistent communications to the wider business.

The purpose of the Multiplex Respect Committee is to oversee, support and deliver those actions required to attract and retain a diverse and talented workforce who will be able to fulfil their potential within an inclusive work environment.As a result of the committee’s formation, changes have taken effect in flexible working policies, family leave policies, recruitment practices, partnerships, and other areas.

In late 2018, I took the opportunity to move into the communications team. Here, I worked closely with the team to improve the level of engagement between sites and other relevant stakeholders. This role provided me with more exposure to the wider business, thus giving me the data needed to assess the areas where improvement was needed. I aimed to transform the business’ operations and create a culture where inclusion and diversity were fostered effectively.I put this aim into practice when I developed a case focusing on diversity and inclusion, which was presented to the EMEC board.As a result, the company’s first diversity and inclusion committee was formed. The main highlights were that it was open to all levels of staff and not limited to senior leadership, but it had board-level backing, thus making it easier to break past resistance.

I was taken on by Multiplex to advise on how to improve the apprenticeship programme and bring it to a stage where the company could train, develop and retain the talent pool.In addition to managing the apprenticeship programme, I also focused on the company’s Section 106 commitments, specifically within the community engagement domain, covering a broad range of initiatives.I aimed to highlight the benefits of joining the construction industry for young people. I understood that there was a skills shortage within the industry, so I worked closely with various stakeholders to change the perceptions and increase attraction.

With the Bruno Tampo Foundation, my goal was to engage with employers to provide exceptional individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds with new opportunities to thrive regardless of their pasts.Securing Multiplex as a client was a major step. The company has created an apprenticeship programme that takes on individuals from all backgrounds. Two of the apprentices from the first cohort have gone on to become M&E Site Managers.
