Scampering across campus between classes and football practice, I vividly recall delivering custom clothing orders to on-campus clubs, teams and sororities. Never in my wildest dreams did I envision a career based in the apparel industry. Looking back at my 25+ years of experience, in managing departments (design, product development, branding, licensing, sales, marketing and production), - I enjoy the people business MOST. I love collaborating with good people and finding solutions and executing on them when faced with challenges. My entrepreneurial career in the apparel industry has shaped my ability to face and solve challenges. Just when you think your process is fine-tuned and your risks have been reduced with redundancy and planning - Bam! the most unlikely issues that you did not see coming throw you off your feet. For me, Character is defined when hope is bleak, the world is crashing down from the issue de jour. How do YOU respond? I was fortunate to have educated 3rd year Fashion students at Seneca College. Fashion Entrepreneurship, was a new business course added in 2008. This was my first opportunity to create a curriculum and teach it. This was the first time working outside of Bruzer and I loved focusing on such important material - working directly with the leaders of tomorrow. I hope the students learned as much about entrepreneurship and how to start and succeed in a fashion business. This was an enjoyable experience.
