Planning: Prepare budgets, timelines, scope of work, present scope of work to management, lead entrance meetings with audited entities, perform walkthroughs to assess design of control environments, develop IT process narratives, perform risk assessments with internal IT and financial management as well as interview audited entities to identify risks, develop audit programs (risk-based design and operating effectiveness), prepare initial audit request lists.Fieldwork: Perform tests of design and operating effectiveness, project status tracking, provide status updates to project stakeholders (audit team management, audited entities' management, audit liaisons), identify and classify exceptions, perform root cause analysis of exceptions, verify and communicate exceptions to stakeholders, lead update/status meetings, lead OSA audit team and provide guidance, review and approve audit testing sheets, supporting work papers and other fieldwork documentation, provide preliminary assessments to State financial audit teams. Reporting: Develop aggregated lists of exceptions with associated causes, risks and recommendations, present exceptions/findings to project stakeholders (audit team management, audited entities’ management, audit liaisons), analyze the level and potential impact of exceptions, develop findings based on exceptions identified during fieldwork, write recommendations to address findings, develop and write reports, identify the significance/level of findings, perform quality control of report, present findings and report to the Colorado State Legislative Audit Committee (LAC) at public hearings.Post Audit: Address administrative procedures in audit tool, including uploading all supporting documentation for work performed during audit, review and approve audit file, perform Quality Control processes.
