I enjoy working with people and helping them achieve their goals. I feel there is nothing more satisfying than helping someone experience break-thru that fuels the next chapter in their life and career. Helping other achieve their goals is me achieving mine. One reason I was attracted to recreation management was the opportunity to challenge people to achieve feats they never thought possible. Standing on the top of a 40 foot telephone pole and jumping to reach a trapeze hung 6 feet away can paralyze people with fear. Working through the fear, coaching for success, and motivating people to take the risk to go on the ropes course gave people the courage to face the challenges of business and life. My leadership is defined by this adventurous spirit that finds new ways to reach the finish line. The executive team exercises we led on ropes courses were more than a way to build trust and create shared experiences. The exercises also challenged thinking, stoking problem-solving through imagination and resourcefulness. Supporting operations and teams requires the same nimbleness, bravo, and appreciation for the contribution for others that I practiced in the woods.The landscape is changing quickly, which allows me to demonstrate my love of learning and training. New ways to operate and work together can be difficult to embrace. Change isn't always welcome until people are emotionally connected the preferred future that the change will produce. I thrive when I can enhance satisfaction and productivity at work through empowerment and a vision for what is possible. I take great delight in being a father to my two year old daughter, Waverly, who shares my love for play and getting messy outdoors. My wife, Alex, and I enjoy cooking, taking trips to cheer for the Appalachian State Mountaineers with our friends, and cheering for my childhood team the Tampa Bay Bucaneeers.
