My main responsibility included document review through the different stages of document development. This required regular interaction with the Architect and Engineering teams during drawing development and was based on Owner/Developer Program Criteria and feedback. Our team also organized drawing review sessions with Trade Partners and internal team members to assist in drawings improvement and completion.The major components involved in the project were:West Expansion of the existing Broward Convention Center – partial demolition of the existing facility and expansion of 270K additional exhibit hall space. Complete demolition and relocation of the central energy plant. The renovation of the structure included N+1 redundancy for increased resiliency to the facility for power and HVAC systems.Hotel Tower – 800 room hotel including multiple ballrooms, restaurants, pool and spa amenities and is based on AAA’s 4 diamond designation. The Hotel is being constructed under the OMNI flagship brand.East Convention Center – a 700K SF standalone building with 350K SF of convention space. Ballrooms on multiple floors accessed via escalators and MRL elevators. Full height curtain wall glazing on the North and East elevations to provide panoramic views of the intercoastal. All MEP tie-in’s back to West Convention Center. Plaza – 7 acres of open plaza with pedestrian pathways between all the buildings and an open-air amphitheater for live entertainment.

Construction of an underground valet tunnel (900 total LF) which involved one of the first major milestones in the overall project associated with the risk of liquidated damages. Tunnel construction involved 25-foot deep excavations, combination of soil mix wall & sheet piling system, and a phased deep well dewatering system. The tunnel work was performed adjacent to existing and active buildings. Coordinated all associated MEP and life safety systems based on conceptual construction drawings. Experienced significant amounts of unforeseen conflicts with the existing underground conditions and remained on schedule to maintain the original turnover date.

Winners Way Garage Ramp And Temporary Lane Diversion ($6Mm):

Construction of a three-story ramp inside the existing and active precast garage (connecting to the valet tunnel referenced above) The new ramp is mixture of structural steel and cast in place concrete. The project involved the negotiation and administration of over $2.5MM in Allowances related with creating a temporary active traffic lane around the construction to minimize the interference to the casino patrons at the main campus thoroughfare. Successfully returned over $1MM of these Allowances to the Owner. Between the lane diversion and the ramp construction there were approximately 30 separate trades involved.

Included in this work was a $2MM EIFS façade improvement package to the South and West elevations of the existing garage.

Other project highlights included, a fully glass enclosed ECO space machine-room-less elevator, update the fire alarm system for the entire building, facilitate one time product approval for two large acrylic viewing panels, and installation of a 180 Ton Chiller in the existing chiller plant. All construction was performed while the existing museum was open for business 365 days of the year. This project is pursing LEED certification.
