After streamlining the development teams within 6 months, I was elected to head up the My Smart City business - a service delivery ERP solution that serves the citizens of South Africa with private services and municipal issue logging and tracking. Still in it’s infancy, my role is to make the business profitable within 18 months, build a 200k+ customer base and launch the product across SA. Next is expansion into Africa within a year and launch in UK 6 months after that.The past few months saw me put together a comprehensive business strategy and aggressive roadmap to achieve these goals. I’ve also built out the operations, development, support and dispatch teams complete with training, processes and procedures in place. Furthermore my Flutter development team has built out the Private Services component of the application as well as the resource on-boarding portal. We launched the beta product to the Capetonian market in November and are currently ironing out the last of the technical issues before going national.Highlight: Releasing a viable eCommerce business product within 3 months.

Acumen Software appointed me to take over both their Cape Town and Johannesburg development teams from the CIO. It was an opportunity to increase output, unify the team and restructure the way they worked. I also had to migrate the MSC team from the existing React Native framework to the more fluid and faster Flutter framework. This had to be achieved within 6 months. This was done by using agile principles and methodologies that were tailored to these highly-skilled teams. Their previously siloed workforce was integrated into all departments; from delivery and infrastructure, to support and contact center teams. Additionally, I aided in the development and execution of their intern development programme, skills development programme, performance review and metrics solution as well as a clear development 2-year roadmap.Highlight: Getting a 25-strong development team to embrace a wholly new agile way of working, while achieving streamlined product delivery without compromise.
