Manage and organize road improvement projects. Manage strategic snow and ice removal for all county maintained roads as well as other storm or disaster related duties. Manage road sign maintenance and replacement. Inspect utility permits; perform locate requests for utilities; determine size and type of drainage structures; meet with citizens to discuss concerns or projects; explain policies and practices to residents; set up meetings with the public to advise and educate on signing, easements and road building projects. Development of work plan and daily direction of activities, mentoring and training all employees in specialized skills and equipment operation with performance evaluation and feedback to each employee. In consultation with the Director of Public Works, I am responsible for staffing decisions related to the hiring, promotion, discipline and termination of employees. . Recommend annual budget for materials, labor and equipment, monitors and controls expenditures; maintain records and prepare reports related to the work; investigate and prepare incident reports, insurance documents for liability claims, injuries and vehicle or equipment accidents; assure work is completed according to proper standards. ; maintain general inventory of materials and supplies. Analyze and evaluate maintenance functions; initiate or recommend new or improved practices. Organize safety programs and other training for crew leaders and other employees.. Serve on Department or County-wide committee's including; Job Descriptions, Snow and Ice control, safety Etc.. Monitor weather forecasts to plan projects and implement weather related call outs
