Managing Engineer/Principal Architect - June 2018 - PresentLead Architect responsible for rearchitecting and migrating a vehicle telemetry ingestion platform from Azure to AWS. I assist in guiding architecture decisions, contributing hands-on to development efforts, building CI/CD and architecture automation via gitlab and terraform, helping to manage the product backlog, in conjunction with the CPO, and maintain product delivery timelines.As a Managing Engineer I am also responsible for mentoring and career management for several team members, interviewing as our teams grow, and helping to maintain and improve our engineering culture.Jan 2018 - June 2018Developed and maintained a real-time ingestion platform, including a suite of product solutions, for vehicle telemetry data, which enables us to build efficient streaming solutions, smart analytic products and dashboards. We utilized various tools/technologies including Storm, Spark (Scala), Kafka, Spring and CosmosDB hosted within Azure. Aug 2017 - Jan 2018Developed and maintained a unified Business Intelligence System that allowed data from various telematics service providers and internal enterprise systems to be ingested for analytics and reporting. We utilized various tools/technologies including Spark (Scala), Oozie and Hive hosted within Azure. For reporting purposes, we used Microsoft PowerBI powered by Hive tables.

Tech Lead responsible for evolving architecture and building a vehicle video ingestion platform hosted entirely on AWS. I assist in guiding architecture decisions, contributing hands-on to development efforts, building CI/CD and architecture automation via github/gitlab and terraform, helping to manage the product backlog, in conjunction with the Product owner, as well as maintaining product delivery timelines.This project is a collaboration effort between Woven Alpha and Toyota Connected with team members spanning three countries (US, Ireland and Tokyo) which requires strong communication skills and unique solutions to managing a widely distributed team.In addition to product development, I am also responsible for mentoring and career management for team members, as well as helping to maintain and improve engineering culture.

I worked within one of several scrum teams supporting the analytics needs of the Cox Automotive Media Solutions Group, including Dealer.com, Kelley Blue Book and AutoTrader. We utilized Hadoop infrastructure to collect, process and store data from various sources including website traffic, lead management and advertising systems, as well as several 3rd party integrations. We used various tools/technologies common to the Hadoop ecosystem including Spark (Scala), Cascading (Java), Sqoop, Flume, Oozie and Kafka/Kinesis. For reporting purposes we used the column-oriented Vertica Analytics Platform whose data is then exposed via REST services and presented via ReactJS reports. All new initiatives are being developed in AWS, and plans exist to migrate all existing infrastructure as well.

Projects:Epsilon - April 2013 - PresentI currently work within a small team consisting of both Epsilon and Credera resources in which I helped to define and continue to develop the back-end service side of a distributed email/print communication marketing application. The application is being developed utilizing the Spring MVC stack including Spring Security, Spring Data, Hibernate, Querydsl and supported on the front end with Thymeleaf. This role requires frequent interaction with multiple third party systems and other internal Epsilon projects with on-going parallel development.

Current Project:Was Responsible for all stages of the SLDC starting from drafting technical requirements and design documents from functional design artifacts resulting from numerous meetings with client stakeholders, and implementing the solution as required.Served as a cross-release technology lead for custom application development to support all on-going release streams. Regularly performed regression and full system/integration testing to ensure requirements continued to be met and design remained on track with initial planning. Interacted on a regular basis with release managers to report project status and assist in risk assessment and task delegation within the technical team.

As a Software Engineer I was responsible for assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of software used for real-time submarine sonar sensor data collection in a distributed computing environment. I acted as the Lead Engineer implementing our product into the Submarine Tactical Control System (TCS) under sub-contract with General Dynamics. Development takes place in a UNIX environment employing primarily Java and C++. Additional components also require the use of various technologies including bash scripting, Perl, and MySQL databases. In addition to development tasks, I was also involved in the composition of new software requirements, detailed design documentation, and formal test steps while being under direct review of government representatives supporting the TCS sub-contract.

I was responsible for debugging and developing fixes for well known customer and testing reported problems, as well as implementing several new features. I worked very close in hand with the technical customer service department and several customers. The product allowed third-party ticket resellers the abiltiy to have a common point to purchase, sell, and manage their company from the moment the purchase is made all the way until the item was shipped and out the door. The product was very heavily data driven so a large emphasis on database work was present.

As a summer intern at Electric Boat I assisted in maintenance coding for outdated file-saving procedures on sensor-calibration software. I also composed Environmental Qualification Test's (EQT's) for several new types of hardware to be introduced onto the ship. In addition I also performed troubleshooting of a Linux touchscreen video driver. This position required that I hold an active Government issued Secret Security Clearance.
